Huge waves wipe out crowd

Two huge waves hit spectators at the world’s most lucrative surfing competition, leaving some in hospital with serious injuries.  More than a dozen spectators were bowled over by the sea surge onto the rocky shore at the Mavericks competition in Half Moon Bay, a California harbor town 25 miles south of San Francisco California.

I spent the night in Half Moon Bay one time a long time ago.  It’s a beautiful coastal community just south of San Francisco.

Time to get politically correct

Due to the climate of political correctness now pervading America,

Kentuckians, Tennesseans and  West Virginians  will no longer be referred to as’HILLBILLIES.’  You must now refer to them as APPALACHIAN-AMERICANS .

And furthermore…
HOW TO SPEAK ABOUT WOMEN AND BE POLITICALLY CORRECT:

1. She is not a ‘BABE’ or a ‘CHICK’ – She is a ‘ BREASTED AMERICAN. ‘

2. She is not ‘EASY’ – She is ‘HORIZONTALLY ACCESSIBLE..’

3. She is not a ‘DUMB BLONDE’ – She is a ‘LIGHT-HAIRED DETOUR OFF THE INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY..’

4. She has not ‘BEEN AROUND’ – She is a ‘PREVIOUSLY-ENJOYED COMPANION.’

5. She does not ‘NAG’ you – She becomes ‘ VERBALLY REPETITIVE.’

6. She is not a ‘TWO-BIT HOOKER’ – She is a ‘ LOW COST PROVIDER.’

HOW TO SPEAK ABOUT MEN AND BE POLITICALLY CORRECT:

1. He does not have a ‘BEER GUT’ – He has developed a ‘LIQUID GRAIN STORAGE FACILITY.’

2. He is not a ‘BAD DANCER’ – He is ‘ OVERLY CAUCASIAN.’

3. He does not ‘GET LOST ALL THE TIME’ – He ‘ INVESTIGATES ALTERNATIVE DESTINATIONS.’

4. He is not ‘BALDING’ – He is in ‘FOLLICLE REGRESSION.’

5. He does not act like a ‘TOTAL ASS’ – He develops a case of RECTAL-CRANIAL INVERSION.’

 6. It’s not his ‘CRACK’ you see hanging out of his pants – It’s ‘TROUSER CLEAVAGE  !’

Aunt Iva – Dead at 95

Iva at Bob EvansI got the call at 11:06 this morning that Aunt Iva had passed away about ten minutes earlier.

Earlier in the morning I called and talked with her nurse.   She told me that she was given 2 units of blood overnight and that she seemed “anxious”, but seemed to have settled down a bit, and was “doing OK”.

The doctor that called with the news said she had a lot of things going against her when she got there last night.  He said he thought it was just her time.  I thanked him for the “sometimes thankless” job they do and he really appreciated that.  I thanked the nurses that worked with her also.

I’ve been making all the necessary calls to relatives and friends, her residence manager and the funeral home.  She is to be cremated and didn’t want any kind of service.  I plan to take my family out to Bob Evans, her favorite restaurant sometime in the near future in remembrance of her.

I’m, going to need to go down there in the next week or so.  Her rent is paid up until March 1st.  I’ll need to clean out her apartment and collect her personal belongings.  I’ll probably be driving down this time.  Perhaps next weekend.  So there will be a few light days here on B&P.

Note:  I know there are many people who will just pass by this post, and ones like it, and I understand that, but I also know that some of you genuinely care.  I’ll try not to overload this space with details, but there seems to be an interest about her, so I wanted to share this news.
