Soiltary confinement

Solitary confinementAs of 8 am ET today (April 2), three volunteers have entered re-creations of solitary cells constructed in DC-area. They will stay in these 80-square-foot “cells” for up to a week, though they absolutely have the choice to opt out at any time they wish. The goal is to spark great conversations about the widely used and controversial penal practice of solitary confinement, as a complement to NGC’s premiere of Explorer: Solitary Confinement on Sunday, April 11 at 9PM ET/PT.

You can watch the whole experience live at

http://www.ExplorerSolitary.com and follow the three volunteers on Twitter at http://twitter.com/ExploreSolitary. The Web site also has more information about the three volunteers, including video interviews they gave before going into the cells.

Cat ‘comes back to life’ 9 months after burial

ResurrectedThey say cats have nine lives – but no one seriously expects them to come back from the dead.

Yet that is what Alfie the ginger tom appeared to have done nine months after apparently being killed by a car.

Owner Angelo Petrillo buried what he believed to be his pet’s battered body after a friend spotted it on the side of a road near his home.

For Sale: Walk-on role in next X-Men film

X-manShare the excitement of film making with a walk-on role in the next installment in the highly successful film series, X-Men. Although cast information has not been announced, the next X-Men film will likely find the series’ previous stars returning for more action-packed thrills. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will also give the winner a chance to meet some of the actors who may be on set that day. Filming is anticipated to begin in 2011, location to be determined.

This experience has been graciously donated by one of the film’s producers, John Palmero. John is a founder and partner of Seed Productions, a film, television, and theater production company with offices in Los Angeles and Sydney. Seed’s most recent film, Wolverine, opened to over $85MM domestically and the number one spot at the box office. Palermo served as producer on that film, as well as Seed’s first film, Deception, a thriller starring Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams. Additionally, Palermo executive produced Viva Laughlin, Seed’s foray into television programming. Last year, Palermo was instrumental in overseeing all elements related to Hugh Jackman’s stint as Oscar host, producing a massive opening number, as well as a mid-show musical extravaganza.
