The USS Lincoln is rotting at sea

The United States Naval Aircraft Carrier is normally a formidable sight – a brute show of unmatched power and presence that says we mean what we promise to be peacekeepers of the world and a force to be reckoned with should anyone ever want to test that. A floating city with thousands of enlisted men and women, and a flurry of activity all hours of the day ensures combat readiness at any given time.

This beacon of pride is not that at all. Morale is in the shitter – broken shitter at that – as these sailors are kept away from their families and tormented with a ridiculously long deployment far outside the realm of standard Navy protocol; all to satisfy a clueless Secretary of Defense.

My late Daddy served on the USS Forrestal during Vietnam. Even during combat operations the ship remained “Showroom Fresh” with painting and maintenance being a top priority. This picture is a disgrace to our legacy as a leading superpower – all in the name of the President’s Ego.

Thanks, Swifty!

    • Not about the age of the vessel but the saltwater environment and rust/corrosion. Both require daily upkeep – something was always being painted or cleaned – which was even more paramount for an almost 40 year old ship

Phoneman? My daddy worked for Southern Bell after the service. Got his nickname “Tarbaby” during training to climb poles because he got the creosote all over himself
