It has been said, “there’s no hate like Christian love.”
The real question is: “Did you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior?” The concept of doing good works in order to have a relationship with Christ is simply wrong.
so, affirmation is all it takes, and screw following His teachings and commandments?
Belief and confession of said belief is what it takes. Yes, we should follow His teachings and do as He instructs, but are warned that we will never achieve the perfection expected of us.

Not according to Jesus (Matthew 25-36, 41-43, 45-46):
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.”
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”
“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
Belief and confession are not what gets one into heaven according to Jesus. And judging by the ideology of many “Christianists”, they can kiss any chance of salvation goodbye, SimpleTim.

Christians aren’t perfect, just forgiven.
The people who must loudly proclaim their Christianity seem to be the ones that never quite get around to following Christ’s teachings. Just cherry pick and repeat a few verses from the Bible, generally from the Old Testament, that fit their narrative.
Just like they do the Constitution.
Most of the false Christians I see quoted are cherry-picking from the New Testament.
Also, Christ is not quoted in the Old Testament, so none of His teachings and instructions are there, just God’s.
The Old Testament is loaded with violence and draconian teachings.
Also, neither the Old or New Testament condemn abortion. In fact, Judaism, a religion solely based on Old Testament literature (The Torah) allows abortion, which we, the U.S. subsidies, more or less, through money appropriated to Israel.
As for the New Testament, living a life contrary to Jesus’ teachings, but simply just believing he is their Savior is hypocrisy at best. While rich televangelists are happy to promote that line of thinking, that thought process gives hope to evil people.
That’s presenting a Constantine doctrine. “Well, gee, I can kill as many people as I want and then before I die, put full faith in that Jesus is my Savior who will then cleanse me of all my sins.”
So in effect, what you are saying is, kill, murder, lie, rape, steal, and then when the time is right, accept Jesus and all will be forgiven. Meaning rules, morals and humanity mean nothing throughout one’s life until the final moments of that life. Is that what your Jesus is about?
