Jonco’s Journal – The Wedding

It was three years ago today, that Jon ‘Jonco’, B&P Pioneer, passed away after an accident at home. I had gifted him this blank father’s journal many years ago, and he returned it to me just months before he died. I’m sharing his entries with you all here in this segment; Jonco’s Journal. -krisgo

Jon & Pat married Sept. 28, 1968

Heidelbergs Inn Restaurant on Bellefontaine Rd is no longer in business. The Cheshire Inn is still there on Clayton Rd though. The black eye story is that the bed had tall posts that weren’t apparently attached well. One fell directly on mom’s face. I guess they were jumping around on the bed too much.

‘The following year’, it says, ‘we took 4 days and drove to Albuquerque NM’.

Mom was not an adventurous cook in those early years. She’s much more interested in trying new things now. Dad also loved trying new recipes he’d find online.

Depression era Water Pie

I like trying new things, and when I saw the ‘Water Pie’, I thought that will be a fun/funny addition to the festivities for an after Christmas get-together. Have any of you ever heard of this or tried it? I used some extra dough and made 2 little stockings, coated in sugar – but they overbaked. I’ll comment later how the pie tasted. -krisgo
