  1. My sister and I are calling in sick tomorrow to go have a long lunch together. Mental health comparison day. 😉

    • But that doesn’t make your life any better—just consuming as if there were no tomorrow and praying you don’t get sick with anything more than a cold

      • Some people’s happiness is when the rich get richer and everybody else suffers. Kinda like those who believe the measure of the economy is the stock market in which 1% of Americans own 50% of the stock. They seem to believe they can spend their 401k at the grocery store at any given time.

    • The debt-to-GDP ratio compares a country’s total public debt to its annual economic output, indicating the nation’s ability to pay back what it owes. Expressed as a percentage, a higher ratio means a country is producing less than it owes, making it harder to manage interest and principal payments.

      While the U.S. has a higher ratio, it’s not substantially higher than France’s (124 v 113).

Basically, your point is meaningless in the context of the initial post.

      • Yes, unfortunately, our government has had a spending problem for way too long.

And when an administration tries to cut the fat and reduce expenses, there is a lot of screaming, crying, and lawsuits.

        • illegal and unethical actions usually do, much to the detriment of those that tried to skirt the process to begin with

        • Not a spending problem at all. It’s a republiclan created problem. Because of their tax cuts for the wealthy, they account for the largest portion of our present day debt. https://www.wral.com/archive/21954176/

The above link speaks of tax cuts starting from Shrub, but Reagan’s tax cuts tripled our debt. This is a purposeful tactic as proposed by Jude Wanniski in his two Santa Claus theory.

The Two Santas Strategy: How the GOP has used an economic scam to manipulate Americans for 40 years

This administration did NOT cut the fat, they only increased inefficiencies within departments. Independent analyses estimate that its actions may actually have cost taxpayers as much as $135 billion due to early contract termination fees, lost tax revenue, and federal workforce disruptions.

The bottom line is, the GOP does not want a government for the people. They want a government for the wealthy only. For decades the GOP has viewed the people only as a commodity. Disposable when they can no longer serve the interests of the wealthy. Hence you get one party dedicated to destroying benefits for the retired, creating a healthcare system that mainly serves those who can afford it and resisting anything to benefit the lives of those who cannot provide revenue to the wealthy.

  2. In Spain, lunch doesn’t last an hour. We have the meal itself and the after-lunch chat ( Sobremesa) , which together can last an hour two or more
