The burger and car were correct, but a good travel agent (ahem…ME) can get you a vacation for well under $12,500. 😉
The ad from ’96 forgot to take in account that salaries will also go up.

Not everybody’s pay keeps up with inflation. Mine went up because of union contracts.
I was lucky. When I got married a family could be raised one one salary. Nowadays not so much.
