in 1865 the US navy planted a forest of teak trees in Puerto Rico to be used in ship building. They have never been harvested.
In 1640(?) Oxford Univ in England built a Library. In 1990 it’s roof timbers were found to be infested beetles. The board of regents were notified, one of the regents is also the chief Gardener who asked around for wood and was told the original builders also planted a dedicated grove of oaks 400 yrs ago to replace the roof when it became beetle damaged. Good planning (just in time). They also planted a new grove.
