Do we get points if we know?
And if many of us know, will the points be distributed on time?
automotive distributor points, about 1990, probably aftermarket
Actually they were used on GM V8’s from 1957 to 1975 when electronic high energy ignition became standard. I’ve replaced quite a a few sets, but not in some years.
They were the easiest set of points to replace and adjust of all the different kinds I worked on. Easiest with a dwell meter to set.
I never cussed at it.
But then, I am not mechanically inclined and don’t work on cars.
Extra points if you still have your dwell meter.
dad still had his timing light with a short in the metal housing that shocked the ever-loving hell out of you with each ignition spark
I had a 69 VW Bug that I used to have to pull over and file on the points with an emery board every so often. It would sputter and spit to let me know it was time, I was so broke I couldn’t afford the 7 or 8 bucks to replace the dadgum things. Oh the good old days. That was my first car.
