    • Actually they were used on GM V8’s from 1957 to 1975 when electronic high energy ignition became standard. I’ve replaced quite a a few sets, but not in some years.
      They were the easiest set of points to replace and adjust of all the different kinds I worked on. Easiest with a dwell meter to set.

    • dad still had his timing light with a short in the metal housing that shocked the ever-loving hell out of you with each ignition spark

  1. I had a 69 VW Bug that I used to have to pull over and file on the points with an emery board every so often. It would sputter and spit to let me know it was time, I was so broke I couldn’t afford the 7 or 8 bucks to replace the dadgum things. Oh the good old days. That was my first car.
