1. Shouldn’t one clean a utensil or kitchen appliance before using it for the first time?

2. WHY did you turn it on with nothing in the basket?

   • Probably by not checking inside during the pre-heat which is in the instructions.

     That’s also why we don’t store burnable or meltable cookware or other things in the regular oven. They smell awful when cooked.
