  1. He was only over rated once he GOT overweight.

However, I’m not one of those people that tout Elvis uber alles… In fact, I read online that it’s his birthday today and immediately commented to my office, “It’s Elvis’ birthday! Shame he’s not alive to enjoy it.” I just don’t get why what age he WOULD have been today matters, since he obviously didn’t get there, y’know? I get why people still mark the day of his death, but I think there’s kind of a rule to birthdays…once you’re dead, you stop having them.

“Heartbreak Hotel” is a good song, though… 🙂

  2. So…at what age do we get to stop the whole “would be XX” today? When he would’ve been 75? 90? 110? Curious minds want to know….

  3. It’s January 8th 2009, and Elvis is still dead.

There are 16,438,000 people celebrating birthdays in the world today.
A lot of them can sing better, and a lot of them can actually write music.
Many of them can at least read music.

If he had at taken a stool loosener, he’d still be alive.

If he had given Karen Carpenter that last PB & banana sammy, they’d both still be alive.

  4. DJ, funny you should mention Karen Carpenter. I had such a huge crush on her!!!!! And could she sing!!!

I saw her perform when I was in the Air Force in Utica, NY. I was amazed at how good they sounded live.

And guess who her road drummer was??? Cubby from the Mouseketteers!

I used to listen to her albums all the time in the barracks. Once when I was using my headphones and singing along, I heard a loud knock on my door. It was my next room neighbor complaining about my singing! OOPS!!! It sounded so good in my head. But I have taped myself signing. He was right fingernails on a chalk board sounds better!

I still have a hard time listening to her music even after all these years.
