  1. Isn’t DEF the liquid newer diesel engines need to make the exhaust cleaner but cut the MPG by about 50%?

    If so, I did not know you could get it from a pump.

    • Yeah it is, I had a VW diesel until about 2 years ago. I didn’t know you could get it from a pump but it also didn’t go in my gas tank. There was a tank for it in the trunk.

        I knew it went into a different tank than the diesel fuel but not that one could get it from a pump–I thought it was bought in jugs (at least for passenger vehicles).

    • I’ve never heard about 100% more fuel consumption due to NOx-cleaning.

      Pumps für this urea solution are useful for trucks. When you burn 100 gallons of diesel fuel you need 3-6 gallons of DEF, so getting it by pump is better (also for the environment) than having to buy it in a canister.
