I remember us having a car or two that would strain for a few seconds when my Mom would push in the lighter.
My wife still will turn off the A/C at stop lights to “help” the car accelerate once the light turns green.
I know a 2000 Honda Insight hybrid car that strains on all hills, but strains way more with the air conditioning on. Also just having the vent fan on interferes with the engine stopping while stopped at a light. If you want to save gas, you switch off the fan when you come to a stop. On the plus side, though: 57 mpg.
Thanks! My son used to make fun of my car. Just showed him this and proved to him it is a universal problem.
