Yeah, we were taught to turn rocks, logs, etc so that it opens away from us just in case there was something under it.
Lesson: don’t flip anything so it opens on your side. Good way to get bit.

It must have been chilly when they recorded this as those reptiles were not very active.
I remember seeing a video/show the Crocodile Hunter did of the 10 most venomous animals in Australia. For numbers 1-6, he did not get close to them at all.
So be careful when you traipse around Australia.
