Johnny Carson singing with the Rat Pack

This show featuring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., the trio know as the Rat Pack was filmed at the Kiel Opera House in St. Louis Missouri in June of 1965.  Johnny Carson, host of The Tonight Show, was the M.C. and this may be the only time Carson sang on stage.

The song:  Birth of the Blues.  Quincy Jones conducted the Count Basie Band.

Here is the video full screen.

Thanks Gene

  1. Man I miss all those guys…especially Johnny. No one since has ever even come close.
And Quincy Jones and the Count Basie Band? Wow.
    What the he11 happened?

  2. Fantastic!

Just last night after watching the video about the Kennedy Honors I got to watching some Jack Benny clips which led to Johnny Carson and Mel Blanc and Liberace and Groucho Marx and kept going on and on. Wow so incredibly entertaining back then. It’s sad so many are gone.
