  1. I see Sir Rushbo of Oxycontin is moving up in the world, what with him wanting to buy the St. Louis Rams. How’s that sitting in your neck of the woods, Jonco? I bet the rest of the panel is Glenn and Billo and Sean and Michelle and Ann and Michael and Lou. Whoo hoooo, what a spectacle that will be!

  2. Paul, I was down in your neck of the woods when I heard the news. So I don’t know what the discussion was here. I really haven’t heard much since I’ve been back. Most of the talk has been about the Cardinals, but that’s over now.

  3. Could work…that team needs something. He’s a local guy, is a real football fan, knows his way around the NFL, he’s going in with another successful sports guy, and he’s got money. Wish a real sports fan with money would run some of our sports franchises in this area, instead of a bunch of miserable bean counters.

  4. Paul – I saw a funny comment in the local paper. It said that if Rush gets the Rams, they will be easy to defend, because every play will be wide right.
    You are welcome.

  5. DJ,
Are you serious, it could work? Remember, this is the guy who got fired from his gig on MNF for a racist comment about Donovan McNabb. Here’s a quote from Leader of the Republican Party: “Look, let me put it to you this way: The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”. Here’s the source (Jonco, I’d like to know your take on this columnist): http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/columnists.nsf/bryanburwell/story/E196145D80764B2F86257648000EF26B?OpenDocument
DJ, if you read the linked article, you will find the writer basically proves your statements. But still, you really think he would be good for the game?
    Richard: Thank you!!

  6. They picked the right guy. Only someone very high on pain killers could endure the pain an suffering of going through one of these competitions. Yes, the women are beautiful, but the brains were left at home.

  7. jonco,
did you read the specific column that I linked to? I’m interested in your opinion on that column. thx

  8. Paul,
It’s hard to argue with Burwell on his expectations of Limbaugh. Rush’s whole act is intended to inflame people and get them riled up. That’s what brings a lot of attention, not to mention money, to him. I actually think he can be entertaining … for about ten minutes, but then I have to turn the channel. It’s always the same thing. Down with the Democrats no matter what they do or say. I know that’s how politics is played, but I can’t play that game.
Is Limbaugh truly racist? I don’t know what’s really in his heart. I believe he acts like one on the air. But that’s his shtick.

  9. Grog, you’re a moron. A black woman will still have the same chance as any other.

    Rush is not a racist!

While you (and I) may not agree with all of his political views, he is certainly not a racist.

If you would do your research, the McNabb comment had nothing to do with his feelings, he was stating his opinion as to WHY the media was hyping a mediocre QB.

If you look at some of the NFL players, there are MANY that ARE thugs or at least LOOK thuggish. I’ll bet if you saw some of them in their street clothes in a back alley, you would be uncomfortable.

Yes, he abused prescription drugs. He apologized, got clean and has moved on with his life. He’s no different than any of the rest of us, other than the fact he has the most successful radio program in history.

I would trust this man alone in a room with my daughter without question. In my view, that’s the true measure of a man.

But this is not a political forum….

Don’t hate me because I’m right (leaning)! 😉

  10. Paul – He got fired for the media pile-on to what they reported as a racist comment. You need to really read the comment, in context, rather than the editorials about it on Daily Kos.

He was commenting that McNabb didn’t seem to be as good a QB as the media was making him out to be: “I think what we’ve had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.”

You think that’s truly racist, or an observation of McNabb’s performance and the media’s artificial hype of McNabb? Is there any difference to the way the media turned on Hillary and hyped the inexperienced 1/2 term black congressman from Illinois? Or how they hyped an average judge who’s opinions read like they were written by a high-schooler, but who became a Supreme Court nominee because she had a certain gender and ethnicity? Remember the hype of General Powell in the 90s?

I agree with Bill ^ . I don’t think he’s really a racist either. I think he says provocative things to try to get people to think, but obviously that doesn’t always work. You can find racist quotes by BO too…”That’s the way white folks’ll do ya.” Read his book.

And Bill was also right that he beat the drug thing…read up on that drug…that’s a nasty one, and an awful one to shake. He was on it for a botched up back surgery that left him in constant searing pain. There are a lot of people fighting Rx addictions post-surgery, and a lot of them can’t do it.

    I don’t have a daughter, but I too would trust him with Bill’s daughter. 🙂 !!

  11. Duuude,
Careful about the brains comment. All of these girls are well above average intelligence. Take a minute to read what these girls have accomplished and you might avoid embarassing yourself again with such a ridiculous comment. This is the exact stigma the whole organization is trying to change. My niece was in the pageant in 2007. She went to Washington DC for a speech contest at age 9, and partook in countless other academic competitions during her schooling. As far as Rush “Vicodin” Limbaugh is concerned, his mere presence would destroy the signifigance of the whole competition. I don’t see how anybody could support any aspect of Rush Limbaugh. He preaches hate and intolerance, college drop-out who used the excuse of having a Pilonidal Cyst (abcess on the tailbone) to avoid going to Vietnam. Oh, and I almost forgot, he’s addicted to prescription narcotics. What a guy!!

  12. Is anyone actually saying that Perez Hilton is any better than Rush? Pretty sure that she…he…(we’ll go with) Hilton set the bar pretty low already. But you know what? Hilton can say & be what he wants, it’s a free country. I’m actually impressed that the pageant is getting someone that is the polar opposite of Hilton.

  13. If anyone can find me a racist comment that Rush made please let me know…I would love to see it…I listen to Rush, and have not heard anything racist from him ? I dont really care what someone political affilation is if he is able to buy a team then buy the team…..Isnt it reverse racism if he is not allowed to persue the purchase of a team just because a few people thought the McNabb comment was racist (though it was not)……

  14. The news just reported that Limbaugh will not be part of the buying group because they felt he would hurt their chances of acquiring the team and keeping it in St. Louis.
