I think there was a recent announcement that Tata Nano is going to be sold in the US, but the required safety improvements and whatever else it needs will boost the price up around 3x what they sell for in India. Plus I’m sure they’ll intentionally do something to it to purposely bring down the mileage. No matter what they do to it, I’ll never sit in one.
The parking brake thing applies when you’re actually on a hill and there is strain on the parking pawl (though your brake may rust shut if you set it only once in a while).
That “half an ounce to start your car made me do some math. It’s only 2-1/2 ounces to push your car a mile at 25 mpg!

I think it means that since then no other make or model has accounted for two thirds of the cars in the world.

Emission controls and what nots I’m sure will help drive up the price and down the gas mileage, besides all the safety features.
