Christmas Open Mic

Gus micI’m turning things over to Gus today to host the Open Mic.  He’s a tough moderator, but he’s in a pretty good mood this morning.  He hasn’t gotten into his stocking yet.

So, enjoy yourselves today and don’t eat too much.  I hope you got everything you wanted for Christmas and I hope that whatever you do today brings you joy.

Peace!

Your dog’s happiness

Happiness-dog

This may apply to most dogs, but not Gus.  Yesterday we were gone for seven and a half hours.  We got home and went upstairs and there’s Gus laying in the middle of the bed.  He did pull himself up on his front legs, but nary a tale did wag.  Of course we have to carry him downstairs and out to do his business. (He was good while we were gone and didn’t leave any presents.)  He does come inside on his own most of the time now… at his own pace.  When winter gets here we’re not going to be able to leave the door open for him to decide when he’s ready to come in.  So, I’m not sure what’s going to happen then.

Gus’ bath aftermath

Gus got a bath Monday night.  Here he is right after his bath.  He goes a little nuts and runs around in circles.  He hardly ever is this active at any other time.  It’s like he’s trying to run fast to dry himself off.

The secret behind Bits & Pieces

Gus PC

Thanks to Dave over at WebDigger.org I have automated a couple of the repetitious little things I have to do with every post.  I’ve also been teaching Gus how to blog.  So in the future if you see something here that you don’t like, you can assume that Gus did it.

Gus is showing little bits of improvement in his behavior.  He still has quite a way to go before he’s “normal”.  But that’s OK.  We have lots of time. He’s still afraid to come in the door.  I took him to my daughter’s house and shot in and out of her door several times.  They have a dog so that might be why he’s better there. Only once did we have to carry him out.

The next time he gets a bath I’ll video him afterwards.   He has this routine he does that cracks me up.

Gus and the dreaded doorway

Here’s my dog Gus after going for a walk.  Now he has the evil task of just coming into the house.  Believe it or not he’s getting better at this than he was.  It’s still quite an ordeal.   I’m not sure what’s going to happen when it gets really cold and I can’t just leave the door open for ten minutes waiting for him.

He’s an upstairs dog,  He goes downstairs in the evening after we’ve been down there for an hour or so… he’ll finally creep down, but he’s not comfortable there unless he’s in my lap in the recliner.

Note:  I’m a little out of breath from the walk up the hill from the deck.
