Blog stats

Someone asked if my stats had changed much recently.  It doesn’t appear that they have changed much. Traffic always drops over the weekend, which tells me quite a few people view B&P at work.

I use two different stats packages.  One is a plugin for WordPress called WordPress.com Stats.  Here is it’s report for the last 30 days.  It’s supposed to show page views.  Each new day starts at 7 pm CST for some reason with this package.

Stats1

I also use StatCounter.  It gives me more details.  Here is its report for approximately the same period.  It shows quite a different number of page loads which I assume are page views.  I don’t know why they are so different.

Stats2

Obama picture firestorm

I’ve been asked to remove the Obama picture that created such a torrent of hate, by the people who actually created it.  They not so politely accused me of “taking it from their site and removing their logo from the picture”.  I did neither, which they would have noticed had they looked at the post carefully.  I would normally comply with the request of a photos actual owner, and have done so in the past in a few cases.

Had they been a little more polite I would probably have done it immediately.  Maybe they’ll ask again.  So, if it disappears in the near future, it wasn’t because of the firestorm that erupted after I posted it.

Update:  Post deleted at the request of it’s creator.

A B&P reader who is not happy

I received the following email from a “former” B&P reader named David:

I have subscribed to your blog via Google News Reader for quite sometime, it has always been good for some humor.  But today I am unsubscribing due to the one-sided bashing of Sarah Palin and John McCain.  No one goes to your website for politics, and I have not seen one parody of Obama or Biden.  You political biases are strikingly evident to all who read your website.

Since David is no longer a reader I’ll just address this to anyone who feels the same way.

Sorry bout that.  I just haven’t seen near as much funny stuff about Obama and Biden to publish.   I’ll be happy to post other funny things about Obama if you point me to them or if I run across them.

A quick search finds some things I published that I’m sure some would say are anti-Obama/Biden:

http://bitsandpieces.us/2008/06/08/obama/

http://bitsandpieces.us/2008/03/26/this-man-wants-to-be-your-president/

I’d say the majority of the things I post are humorous, but I post other things that I find interesting for one reason or another.

It just goes to show you can’t please everybody…. and that’s OK.  Maybe David will come back after the election.  Of course he’ll occasionally find humorous posts about the new president, whoever it is.

There are soooo many blogs around and about the net these days, once I came across yours I was hooked! Sometimes I even visit your older blog just because some of that stuff is still funny to me. I always read the jokes to have a “good one” to tell for our weekly family get together. I enjoy your blog and I hope you keep it going for a long time to come!  Thanks So Much!”
