Up until now I have always skimmed through the spam filter to make sure there isn’t something there that is a real comment. I’m no longer able, nor willing, to do that. With 200 – 300 spams a day it’s just too time consuming. And for the very few comments I find that I believe are legit, it’s just not worth it. So if you leave a comment and it looks like spam to my spam filter, then it’s probably not going to make it though to the post. It might be because you have too many links in it for Viagra or tramadol (whatever that is) or you’re selling software thru a link, or you send a few dozen similar comments out in a short period of time… I don’t know all the spam filtering rules. But it does a really good job. Nor perfect, but really good.
This shouldn’t affect comments that are held for moderation. Comments are held for moderation because they have bad words or too many links (and the software just isn’t sure about it) or you’re a first time commenter. These I usually see and approve a couple times a day.
Now back to our regular programming.
