An early evening in New Smyrna Beach

Jon Atlantic1After looking at some local maps we headed over to Flagler Street and stopped at the Flagler Tavern.  The place was hopping with 2 guys on keyboards who were very good.  (I think they were part of the Jazz Festival going on here this weekend.)  We had some wings and a couple of cold Bud Lights.  After that we walked up Flagler Street stopping at a few shops.  Most of the shops I saw weren’t than interesting to me.

Then we hopped in our rented ‘Tang and headed over to Pubb 44 on Route 44.  The place wasn’t crowded at all.  There we had sandwiches and another beer.  I wondered why it wasn’t that crowded on a Saturday night.  Then I looked at my watch and it was only 8 pm.   Their live music didn’t start for another hour or so.  I knew this wasn’t going to be a late night for me.  Here it was – 8 pm… actually 7 pm St. Louis time, and I was tired.  It’s not easy getting old, but it beats the alternative.

I need to rest up for breakfast tomorrow.  Not sure what’ll follow that.
