There was only one thing I wasn’t familiar with in this video: Topo Gigio. I have no knowledge of that. A Google search lead me to this entry. Topo Gigio was the lead character of a children’s puppet show on Italian television, in the early 1960s. That explains why I never heard of it.
Thanks Gene
Jonco,
Don’t tell me you never watched The Ed Sullivan Show.Topo Gigio was a regular!!

GM,
Yes I watched Ed Sullivan’s “really big shoooow” every Sunday night on CBS, but I don’t remember that at all.
Stefano,
I don’t need to correct your English. I understand what you’re trying to say and I thank you for writing and I’m glad you enjoy Bits & Pieces.
Remember the Marx Mystery Spaceship gyroscope? (http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-MARX-Mystery-Space-Ship-in-Box-very-nice-cond_W0QQitemZ300252332905QQihZ020QQcategoryZ733QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Remember 25 cents to get into the movie theater?
Remember making your own skateboard using the metal wheels from roller skates?
remember the spots from those flash bulbs… lol…
I still have my Topo Gigio hand puppet that I received as a child. It’s in relatively good shape,
considering that I’ve had it 45 years or so! Ed Sullivan was a staple in our household Sunday nights.
Remember the spinning plates act? Or the fantastic animal acts? Or the Beatles first US TV appearance?
Or Elvis, from the waist up, because swiveling hips were naughty back then?
Fond memories. sigh
I remember most of it, but some of the stuff was either regional (Falstaff beer) or too early for my time (Sky King).
Unfortunately, I’m old enough to remember Sky King…my second favorite show (I had a crush on Penny) after Sea Hunt with Lloyd Bridges.
Danna,
I used to have a Topo Gigio hand puppet, and have been looking for one for years!! If you ever decide to sell it,say so on this site. I will look at it regularly.
