I remember playing with these and never saw nor heard of anyone getting hurt.
It was a fun game while it lasted.
I still have an original set but even though I never seen an official word, the internet buzz is that they were outlawed and not just taken off the market. Couldn’t even sell them for a dollar at a garage sale. Only the boxes for sale on Ebay.
But the claim is that a toddler was killed because of at that age the skull is still soft. But I think a horseshoe could do a lot of damage like that also. Some people at parties forget to be careful when they are having fun, especially when some drinking is involved.
