Beaded Lace Edition
Short post today. I actually spent quite a bit of time yesterday sewing, but I wanted to share something else instead. I think this is my favorite project I’ve ever made. It’s a great neutral color. I can dress it up or down. It was even enjoyable to knit. My notes say I started it Jan 1, 2012, and finished it April 19 of the same year, though they also say that I was on leaf 6 out of the 9 I did as of Jan 8…so I feel like maybe I forgot to record my finish date and then just picked one later on. I do remember that it went pretty quickly.
The only problem is that I live in GA and it’s rarely cold enough to need it. I generally end up pulling it out when I wear something formal and have a sleeveless dress.
The pattern is called Frozen Leaves and I used KnitPicks Gloss Lace yarn, which is a merino/silk blend. The beads were some iridescent grey beads and weren’t part of the original pattern but I based placement on notes a friend of mine had made.

Absolutely beautiful. A lot of painstaking, careful work but obviously worth the effort.
If it’s too warm for Georgia, maybe you can check out Lake Superior in the wintertime.
Trying to swim in Lake Superior even in the summer is freezing. Did it once at the far east end near the Soo. Still shiver.
I could imagine the water would be chilly year-round.
Very impressive! Love it.
