Being a retired pilot I can safely say the transition from an old-fashioned setup to a new one is quite easy. The other way around is very difficult. People that trained with old analog instruments (like me) can now fly any setup whereas the new pilots learning with digital instruments cannot safely do that without training or having a knowledgeable safety pilot with them.
Kind of like but on more common examples some one that grew up with a phone camera computer all in one that they could put in their pocket trying to figure out some calculations on paper, look up information at the library, read a paper map, or use a dial phone. How about driving with a manual transmission?
