      • They just used the name socialist. Didn’t practice it. The people did not own the means of production or have equal shares of the bounty. Big business and the industrialists owned their own companies and made fortunes for themselves.
Just like using republic, as in the Republic of North Korea, The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the People’s Republic of China. They are not republics.

        • And the biggest issue is that people are conflating socialist with socialism. Democratic socialism is what installs our infrastructure, keeps us safe with police and fire services, paves our roads, educates our children, etc. The issue with the rich is that they take the biggest advantage of the socialism but pay little towards it in taxes. Their employees are public schooled, their factories are powered and watered with public works, taxpayer funded police and fire arrive to assist with their factories…

  1. Good news! A picture from 2019 shows a white blank where that stupid emblem was.
Uganda’s post colonial history has been pretty messed up. Idi Amin would be burning in the same hell dungeon as Hitler, Stalin & Pol Pot.
On reflection, the surprise is just how isolated Ugandans have been for that kind of iconography to survive into the 21st century
