Some formatting changes to Bits and pieces

An eagle eyed viewer and frequent commenter pointed out that one of my posts had an equal amount of dislike reactions from the thirty or so total reactions. I have therefore decided that if you can react to a post, you can very well use your words to comment on a post – particularly if there’s something you DON’T like. This feedback is relied on to determine what gets posted and what I should avoid posting. More importantly it helps me to know when a post goes too far off the rails of entertainment and comedy, and assists me in delivering only the most quality of content in the future. So moving forward, the likes on posts have been removed and I encourage you to leave comments.

Sincerely, me

  1. Which is what the up/down vote measures. Is more value placed on an image if it is commented on or when all one has time wise is to click up or down, enough?

    • sort of, if I were seriously monetizing the site – which I’m not. This is for entertainment and humor, not for getting rich off of. But, it’s easier for me to know WHY someone dislikes it if they come outright and tell me, rather than play a guessing game

      • Value by reason to maintain similar images. The larger point being offered by Smittypap. One don’t always the time to explain why they like or dislike an image/joke, so writing “Like” or “No Like” may be all the effort or time one may have. Are you looking for essays to explain how a meme makes me feel or wanting to know if a meme is a hit or miss?

        • this site is more than just what I want to post full stop. rather it’s for all of us to enjoy, from my posting to your viewing. I can’t tell from a simple dislike as to where I went wrong, or what nerve was touched.

          • But that sometimes is what this site is about. It’s randomness of absurdities, silliness doesn’t reverberate the same for everyone. Not every joke will be a home run, nor should it be expected. The occasional bomb will happen. So be it. I’ve found some stuff that struck the wrong chord, but the good ones far out number the bad. You move on and deliver the next one. This shouldn’t be trial and error thing for you. It should be a way of entertaining yourself while letting others in on the jokes. You can’t please everybody 100% of the time and you create difficulty upon yourself in trying.

  2. I rarely comment, but I often up-vote posts I like. Why not leave the up-vote button and remove the down-vote button, requiring a comment for anything negative.

  3. I do occasionally leave comments or questions when I think I have something to add, but there’s no way to find out if someone’s replied to me without checking back on each post I’ve commented on.

  4. I HATE THIS POST!!!

Just kidding–I will continue to post comments while visiting.

Also, I do not see a way to note I want to know if someone responds to a comment–I just see a checkbox to have my name and email saved.

  5. Sometimes a “down vote” isn’t because it’s not funny or maybe borders on offensive. Sometimes it’s really closer to “yuk,” like if it’s about fermented fish or peanut butter & egg sandwiches.
I think we can all find something we disagree with, we find gross, or don’t comprehend.
Self-censorship is one thing, but bowing to pressure from people who can’t accept your sense of humor is not acceptable.
When I don’t “get” one of your posts, I just move on to the next one.
I’ve moved away from other blogs that don’t give me the emotional stimulation I was looking for. But I’ve never been so self-important enough to tell them not to post something.
Carry on, my friend. You’re my first stop every day.

  6. As if to prove you right, most people have showed up today to tell you what they like or do not like about the like or do not like buttons being removed.

    Clever of you.
