Greg and I were friends in high school. Several things about Greg were strange, but after all, he was a drummer in a band. I dated a woman who had known him most of his life, and was good friends with his family, and she thought Greg was a little odd, but so where most of her friends.
I was the best man at his wedding. His new bride was eighteen, he was twenty-four, and they seemed to be a happy couple. Two years later she left him.
Greg started dating a woman older than he was, and she had a twelve year old daughter. They went on vacation and Greg’s beach photos were mostly of the little girl in her swimsuit. I began to feel uneasy about Greg and the girl, but shortly after the beach trip, her mother broke up with him and left.
When I left the Army I moved to Valdosta Georgia and Greg had disappeared. A few years later he called me looking for a character witness in a trial. It seems that a computer virus had infected his computer and downloaded a lot of child porn. I told Greg I was the last person he wanted in that courtroom. If summoned I would have told the truth.
He had called a mutual friend and that friend called me, and we began to compare notes. Greg never had a girlfriend in high school, never dated, and his wife, Kim, looked a lot younger than eighteen. The photos of his girlfriend’s daughter made us stop and wonder. There was only one conclusion to come to about Greg. He was a pedophile. All the clues had always been there, but we, and everyone else, never put them together.
Last I heard, Greg had served five years in a prison in West Virginia on the child porn charge. Where he is now, I have no idea.
Greg and I were good friends. We drank together, we talked a lot about music and life. I was a roadie once for a gig he played at a Country Club where a woman got on stage and stripped. We went to concerts, the beach, and hung out a lot. I wore my dress green uniform at the wedding and somewhere there’s photos of us together. Greg and I were close.
Child Porn is a red line for me with Greg or anyone else. Sexualizing children is abhorrent. I was more than willing to disregard the good times years of friendship in order to preserve my own values. I would do the same with anyone I have ever known.
I will, without hesitation or regret, cut ties with anyone who has anything to do with sexualizing children. There is no acceptable degree.

I agree. It’s sad there are still some in this country who are still trying to defend a predator. “Other than that he is is allying all my other fears so I need him where he is. So the accusations are all ‘fake news’.”
Buzz, there is no excuse, no explanation, no mitigating that sort of behavior. Whatever it costs me to rid myself of someone like that I will pay it.
I don’t understand how they burned witches at the stake or drowned them….but hurting children is perfectly acceptable behavior for some. Thank you for standing up for those who don’t have a voice.

There are some people who want to know who the pedophiles are, so they can have a valid reason to hate on them. But one pedo in particular is okay with them. So much so, they would gladly “donate” their underage daughter for him to rape because they would wear that as a badge of honor.
There’s this registry of sex offenders that those on the list must inform the proper authorities when they move into a neighborhood. Too bad that registry doesn’t extend to accomplices, accessories, aiders and abettors, meaning all those who excuse that behavior because it suits their belief system.
CAI I truly believe that somewhere in the future, if there is one, this time in history is going to be viewed like one giant dumpster fire.
Since it is “innocent until proven guilty,” the accomplices, accessories, aiders and abettors would have to have their day in court and convicted before showing up on any registry.
Why? They’re not for following the Constitution when it comes to deportations.
How are they not? Arrest a suspect, give them their day in court, and if found guilty, export them.
Or, arrest someone who’s had their day in court and export them.
And what does deportations have to do with the topic on hand?
Deportations are the subtext of your cry for following the law regarding pedophiles and all those who assist in their own ways of protecting said pedophiles.
To answer your question, “How are they not?” The answer is simple to the informed person. The informed person sees these people are not being provided rights such as habeus corpus and are basically being kidnapped off the streets just for being brown. They are not having their day in court unless you are counting the ones who are fulfilling their requirements to show up in court for their hearings and are unaware that ICE has told the judge to dismiss the case so the individual can be arrested.
But you go ahead and support protecting pedophiles.

If only people listened to the victims. Women and children. Don’t get me wrong, I know there have been cases of women who have said they were violated who were not ,and the wrong guy was sent away. But when over 20 people accuse the same individual, many of them going back years, yet no one is telling the truth? Give me a break. It reminds me of the church cults that allow their young children to be with their leaders and call it an honor that their child was chosen. That is so offensive to me, as a mother, as a human, as a person with good sense.
I work with children and have done for over 20 years now. I would defend anyone’s child. My child, your child, any child. I don’t care the age, the gender, the color, creed, or religious affiliation a child is a child. The world is hard enough without someone stealing their innocence.
There’s a clip going around social media right now of a prisoner who is before a judge, a lifer, the judge is asking him if he killed another prisoner. He openly admits that yes, he did take this man’s life. When asked why, he explains that this other prisoner was in for SA against a child. The first guy tells him he will need to find new accommodations in the morning. When the second guy tries to justify it the first prisoner takes his life with no remorse. The judge asks him why he felt he had the right to judge him. He tells the judge only his god can do that, he only arranged the meeting.
Chick, there comes a point in time where we have to admit that curing these people is outside our skill set.
The odd thing is that in Atlanta they discovered a homeless camp occupied by predators. They whined about it being the only place they could find to live. The church across the street ratted them out. Turned out the property was owned by the Georgia DOT who promptly had them evicted.
I have heard that if someone did something to a woman or a child and got incarcerated the other inmates make sure that person does not live much longer.
Tim, it’s odd that the people in prison have a higher sense of justice than our nation’s leaders. Or their followers.
Yeah, if a friend of mine did something like that, they would definitely become an ex-friend.
While I do believe in second chances, if that ex-friend claims they have changed after serving their time, it will take a while before I would trust their claim–if ever.
Tim, it’s simple. If they got out of prison would you leave children alone with this person?
Probably not until they are able to convince me it is safe and I can trust them.
And that bar would be very, very high. “Once bitten, twice shy.”
Here’s how we ought to do it. Whenever they release a convicted pedo, he gets to stay with whoever signed the paperwork for his release.
