In that first video, I think that hand tool with the crank is a precursor to the Yankee screwdriver.
For the one in the video, to screw in a screw, you crank and the screwdriver head rotates. For a Yankee screwdriver, you press in the handle towards the screw and the head turns screw in the screw.
i think I have seen one of those crank screwdrivers and my step-father had a Yankee screwdriver that was great to use.
