  2. Also, for a fair contract, wages, hours and a stipend for the required clothing. During the fifties my dad lost his job when Hudson Motors moved out of the Detroit area. When he found another non-skilled job at an area hospital, (Alleged non-profit, Not!) he was required to buy his own uniforms, They paid minimum wage and then fired him after a short time.
    What could he do with uniforms that cost what little money he had except get a job as a Good Humor man? Even in my five-year-old mind I knew it was a raw deal.
