  1. Shouldn’t FAIL be slapped across that pic?

My 1GB Macbook is light years faster than my 4GB PC.

  2. Careful, lest you anger the cult of Mac. They will be your best friends, but the moment you even hint and mocking their beloved (and there’s plenty to mock) they will turn on you like rabid dogs. Saw it happen to the Johnson boy up the street. They gathered outside his house and played Shiny Happy People until he hung himself. Scary.

  3. Tony,
I’m not a Mac hater by any means. I’ve owned several Macs: http://bitsandpieces1.blogspot.com/2006/04/30-years-of-apple-computers.html
I just had to switch to PC because that’s what the business world uses for the most part… and I needed to make a living. I think Macs are great…. and I still have one, but I never use it anymore. As a matter of fact, I now find it difficult to use, I’m so ingrained in the PC.

Besides, I know Mac users have a good sense of humor. At least the ones I know. They don’t mind a little ribbing and also don’t mind paying more for a smaller selection of software for their machine.
    Jonco

  4. Um, I don’t know how to tell you this but, you’re wrong. Since Macs can also run Windows and all the apps that go with it, they actually have a far greater selection of software than a PC. Not to mention that a Mac running Windows is faster than a comparable PC. Ouch.

  5. Ah yes, us Mac users are a cult, yet Windows users defend mediocrity until they’re blue in the face! LOL. Too funny.

Jonco, do your research. Macs don’t cost more than PCs anymore. Sure, Apple doesn’t make a $300 piece of shit like Dell, but that $300 piece of shit can barely surf the Internet properly. And considering Macs can run Windows (why anyone would want to is beyond me) and Linux, it can run more software than any other computer.

  6. @Tina: Um, I don’t know how to tell YOU this but, YOU’RE wrong. MACs do run a lot Windows apps but not ALL the apps that go with it. Lemme explain… I’m in the midst of looking for a new computer and I’ve been pulled in both directions by my PC friends and my MAC friends (for some reasons MAC people push more, kinda like they’re Jehovah Witness’ but for Apple… lol). Anyways my point is while I am inclined to try something new and get a MAC, before I do so I’ve been making lists of the programs that I use regularly for my current PC and have been checking if they are MAC available or even MAC versions and while many of the big/popular programs are available, smaller/less known progs that I use aren’t. Some say they are in the works for MAC versions which is great but as of right now they are not available. I’m sure in the near future more and more progs will be available/compatible. For an average user that will use their MAC for the internet, a word processor and listening to music it’s great but for advanced users who use their computer for everything else, the PC just has more options. oh ya… Ouch.

  7. @SK. Um, guess what? YOU’RE WRONG. Sorry. You can boot up a Mac using Windows. Not some weird emulation mode but, the real deal Vista. Or XP if you haven’t upgraded (I’ve heard Vista’s not going over so well). That’s right, you don’t have to find Mac versions of your software. You can just use your Mac as a Mac or a Windows machine. For those who are riding the fence it’s the best of both worlds. You can even use third party software to avoid having to reboot to the other OS. You can just switch between the two on the fly. So you can use the Mac side for iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie and all the other applications that come with a Mac and you can use the Windows side for your Windows software. Just in case you can’t get to an Apple store here’s a link that explains it better:

    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/bootcamp.html

One more thing, apples to apples the Mac will be faster, cheaper and have better resale value.

    Ouch.

  8. sorry guys i am a linux user. I think macs are for non-computer ppl who like pretty things and PC users are for ppl who wish to be ruled by the iron whip of Gates. Want a real computer get a linux box. Guess what you can run windows programs, apple programs on it most of the time with little problems, there are no virsus, the software is free, and almost 100% open-source. unlike both mac and windows it can run on any machine. Plus the entire backbone of the internet runs off of it. Want to know the best operating system in the world is find out what the top computer ppl use. Google for example runs off linux.

    So to re-cap
    linux is:
    free
    open-source
    easy to use
    virus free
compatible with other operating systems programs (most of the time)
    easy to upgrade
    secure
can be run on any computer
and is the backbone of the internet

    viva the open-source revolution!!

  9. @Tina: I did not know about this new option, I must admit this is very cool. Ouch <– that’s for me not you LOL

@isiah: I’ve heard of Linux but it always sounded complicated to me. Is very different from Windows or Mac?

  10. “I’ve heard of Linux but it always sounded complicated to me. Is very different from Windows or Mac?”

it can be to be honest. At work today i had a really hard time getting something to work properly. the good thing about it is: it is POSSIBLE to get it to work. If something doesnt work in mac or windows you might never be able to get it to work. the reason is because the source code for those operating systems are closed source (you cant look at or modify the code). Mac is based on unix, linux is based on unix as well. Which is why mac has some nice features, but linux is more like an enhanced version of unix.

One of the best versions of linux you can get (especially if you are new at it) is ubuntu. You can set-it up so that you can have both windows and ubuntu on the same computer and you can pick which one to run each time you start the computer up (look at “dual-boot ubuntu” in google). its even possible to run it on a CD, like the really old Apple computers the entire operating system can fit on one CD and by putting it in you can run it. If you do get ubuntu you can also get something called KDE, which will make it look a lot like windows.

windows programs can be run through a linux program called wine. Which recently announced a major update. This program is also free. Also linux systems have many programs compatible with windows and macs such as: openoffice and firefox

    hope this helps

  11. Hilarious to find a religious OS war on this site.

One comment: Did someone actually mention computers and resale value in the same sentence?

Green comment: Please donate or somehow recycle your “old” computers and peripherals. By “old” I mean anything that just came off the assembly line.

P.S. As off today, you can’t blame Bill anymore ;-(

  12. @isiah: Thx for the info. I also did a little research on the net and it does look interesting. I might try it on my old laptop and see how it works. Who knows, I might turn to Linux after all this PC vs Mac discussion, that’s funny… LOL
