  1. Cut the apples up into six pieces each and everyone gets four piece.
    One to be safe give the girl one apple and the boys take half each.

  2. Scenario 1: Take a person out via knife stroke.

    Scenario 2: Cut the apples diagonally from (by looking at the drawing) top right to bottom left at a 45 degree angle. I think that will give two one piece each and another two pieces but all will get the same amount of apple.

    Scenario 3: Use the stroke of the knife to procure another apple and each gets one apple.

    • This applies to the math for your scenario 2. Knife is long enough to cut both apples at one time. Therefore, you align the knife so it is cutting 1/3 of each apple at the same time thus giving 2/3 of a whole apple to two people plus two 1/3 pieces to the third
