Anybody that lives in or near Ontario should’ve already known this. Radar detectors have been illegal in the province for a long long time. It’s against the law to use them in a lot of states and provinces, but in Ontario, it’s illegal to possess and/or even own one, and has been for years. They have detector detectors in the cop cars at both the provincial and local levels. RCMP has them, OPP has them in all their cars, Toronto police have them in most patrol cars, most towns and cities have them. A police officer upon reasonable grounds and without a warrant can stop, enter, and search any motor vehicle for a radar detector. Even if you’re not speeding, or at a stop, you can be pulled over when their detector detects your detector. Your detector is taken, and a huge fine issued…can legally be up to $1000. If you don’t pay the fine, a warrant can be issued for your arrest.
I think the same situation exists in Quebec and some of the Atlantic provinces.
