  1. And even though the killer whale’s killed a couple other people too, they’re still not going to let him out of his little tank and back into the ocean…they said they’ll still make him do stupid whale tricks and they’ll brush his teeth 5 times a day. She’s not even buried yet, and the killer is back on stage.

Who does a killer whale gotta kill around there to get out of that trap?

    That’s entertainment.

  2. Large animals do not belong in small places. Humans and large animals, historically speaking, do not make friends.

This is what happens when we see entertainment in the lives of creatures we ought to leave alone.

That said, the woman died doing what she loved. Few of us will be able to say that.

  3. When ever I see posts like this , I can’t help wondering if the family of the deceased just might be regular visitors to B&P or any other site that for that matter.

  4. I think Jonco is right the same goes fo most of these big animals we keep in captivity for our own amusment. very sad all round. They should just retire him and let him live out his life quietly.

  5. I’m curious as to how they KNOW the whale wouldn’t survive in the wild. Does it have human scent on it now? Is it tainted forever, never to be accepted by other Orcas?

  6. It’s heartbreaking to see these beautiful whales forced to do tricks for human entertainment. It’s the same with the elephants at the circus. Highly intelligent creatures should not be treated like this, it makes me cringe.

I’m so sorry about the death of the trainer.

  7. Maybe animals that are meant to live in the wild shouldn’t be held in captivity for the amusement of people in the first place.
Maybe places like this and zoos are all wrong. Maybe wild animals should be, I don’t know, in the wild.

  8. If you play with large, dangerous WILD creatures – expect to get killed. After all, they’re aren’t animals that have been domesticated for centuries like our dog and cat friends.

  9. I agree with you DJ, we have no right to hold these animals captive that way, I’m sure if the tables were turned we wouldn’t like it, and would kill to make our point. I’d do whatever it took to escape my captors.
MCW, I like your site too.

  10. It’s unfortunate these animals are having their indigenous environments destroyed by man. While there may not be an immediate threat to the Orca whale, there are countless other species
out there who have only a matter of years before they are extinct because man has decimated their native environment so everyone can enjoy their ridiculous malls and coffee shops. Seems like keeping these animals in captivity is there only hope. There will soon be no “wild” to return these creature to.
