New school prayer

Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord’s Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore Because the word “God” is mentioned….   A kid in Arizona wrote the attached:

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene.

The law is specific, t he law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the state

We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They’ve outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.

It’s “inappropriate” to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such “judgments” do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.

But the Ten Command m ents are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

Thanks Gene

  1. Either way, it’s not significant. Nothing special about it. Sounds like some religious fanatic wrote this.

  2. Kids can’t study witchcraft in school either. That’s a religion too. No kid should be taught any religion in school, even if you think it’s the right one.

  3. thank “god”.. religion has more than enough time to screw people up… we don’t need to sacrifice the children to it while they are still in school…..

  4. Before it was outlawed.. and we COULD recite prayer in school.. I remember an Arabic kid getting blasted for praying to his god because “You can only pray to GOD.. thats not GOD.” Rather like it this way.. keep god in the church.. poem is cute though.. if one sided

  5. I keep hearing that the pledge is taken out of schools. Aside from the fact that god is only in the pledge to show how anti-commie the US is, and ignoring the fact that it actually IS offensive to those who don’t believe in god (how about if you LIKE god in the pledge so much, you can add it yourself rather than telling other people to just not say it if they don’t…)… but for someone who is in their last days of high school, I can assure you that we still say the pledge every morning and it does include the words ‘under god’.

And if you want religion in school, private schools are still available. Religion does NOT belong in public schooling, and thank god that it isn’t.

  6. Maybe they should ban money too, since it says “In God We Trust” ….people just go overboard, seriously. As of recent I find myself to be more agnostic / slightly atheist…but I am in no way offended by mention of god or the like. People need to just STFU and mind their own business. Same stuff how business’s have to say happy holidays instead of merry Christmas, If I didn’t believe in or celebrate Christmas, and some person on the street said Merry Christmas to me, how in the world can that be offensive? Obviously the guy doesn’t know if I celibate it or not but he has good intentions, and that’s what matters.
