I know it’s not quite the same thing, but this reminds me of a mechanical TV from a century ago.
It’s not really anything new or illusionary. It basically draws on the same concept that has been used for a long time. We’ve all seen pictures or postcards with that plastic-ridged layer glued on top of the image. And when you rotate it, it appears to be 3D. Same concept.
For more info, look up “lenticular printing”. Much more amazing things have been done with this than making circles rotate.
