That was Eric Johnson. He’s a total tone freak!
You don’t get a tone and precision like that without being a little anal. He’s very particular when it comes to recording. Everything has to be PERFECT! I understand he’s the same way in concert.
I think most of his tone comes from his Stratocaster and amp, not a lot of pedals. His Signature Fender Stratocaster is one of the most expensive Custom Shop Production Models. Which is why I don’t have one!
