I do mean Tom O’Neal. I met John Auble (the unseen reporter in this piece) a couple of times too. He was OK, but didn’t impress me much one way or the other. He was at his best when he and Dick Ford used to do Night Beat on channel 5. Auble was an announcer at one of our fundraisers at our club about 30 years ago. Everyone thought he’d donate his $200 fee to the cause, but he didn’t.
