Google DROID

I got a new cellphone yesterday. Although you can hardly call it a cellphone, it’s a smartphone.  It’s the Google DROID. It was just released on Friday. 

Here’s a video that shows some of it’s features.  Now I have to figure out everything it can do. 

Here’s just one thing it can do: Google Maps Navigation.

  2. There is a difference between the word ‘alternate’ – which refers to a sequence of every other – and ‘alternative’ – which defines a choice. The phrase should be ‘alternative route’.

    There is also a difference between ‘rout’ – pronounced ‘rowt’ and referring to gouging – and ‘route’ – pronounced ‘root’ and meaning the road travelled.

  4. I have the LG Dare and LOVE it. Its almost time to renew my Verizon account and I was considering the Droid. Keep us updated, please. You might convince me to get one.

    Here are some of my favorite apps so far:

    -Aldiko to read books.
    -Advanced Task Killer to stop programs in the background to save battery life.
    -Key Ring: it store coupon/saving card so you don’t have to carry Petco, groceries, etc. stores cards.
    -Listen: to listen to podcasts
    -Mother TED: to watch TED video
    -My Coupons: to find coupons for restaurants/groceries
    -Pandora: free music
    -PdaNet: to use your phone as a wireless route
    -Shazam:ID name of songs
    -ShopSavvy: scan barcode to find better deals online or local
    -Streamfurio w/ http://www.thestreamcenter.com/pda/ to listen to radio

  7. I had looked at one Friday, but I didn’t like the feel of the keyboard at all. The keys were very hard to press. So I started leaning towards the iPhone again. When I got to Verizon yesterday, the guy there convinced me that the Droid had better coverage and I really think I like the Android 2 operating system. And the Droid there had a much better feel on the keyboard. But I think I prefer the virtual keyboard anyway. At least that’s what I’ve been using since I got it. I picked up a car mount today and ordered a docking station so it can sit and recharge on my desk when I’m at home.
