Want the KFC secret recipe?

406_only 4 people know_littleGood luck! Here’s a little description of how tough it is to get to the original recipe of KFC:

“We fortified the ceiling and the floor around here with concrete bricks two feet thick,” Dietl said. “We put in motion sensors also CCTV that’s hooked up to security downstairs. They have 24/7 armed guys downstairs, so in the amount of 30 seconds you’ll have somebody up here. Once in here, you have to have two people with two keys and two different PIN numbers, and that’s what you have to have. This safe is bolted down and there is no way anybody can get in here unauthorized without us knowing about it.”

Holy. Crap.

But will this be enough to thwart the hordes of people who are trying to steal the secret recipe? Just in case it’s not, half of the ingredients are mixed at one location, half at another, and they are combined at a third.

This is chicken we’re talking about. CHICKEN! Fast food chicken. See, we’re going to share a little secret with you guys who’re risking your lives to protect that recipe: no one eats at KFC because they have the best chicken in the world. People eat it because it’s a pain in the ass to make at home and the line was too long at Popeye’s.

  1. I think that’s bull. Are you telling me that a reputable lab can’t take a sample of the spices mix, analyze it, and come up with everything that’s in it?

    Come on!

  2. Ingredient 11: It’s that tiny bit of cocaine… that’s why all the bills have trace amounts of cocaine.

  3. It’s advertising, every time their sales drop they put out crap about the 11 herbs and spices. So every numb-nutz out there looks for the “secret recipe” and tests it against the real thing. The lazy ones just go buy it.

  4. KFC, original recipe, is my kryptonite. When I was much younger, I worked at a Pizza Hut that was across the street from a KFC. We swapped food with them all the time. I was eating KFC 5 days a week at one point. Too bad (or good depending on how you look at it)the closest KFC is about 25 miles away.

Damn we should have thought of that! I worked at a cater company next door to a gourmet coffee shop, we should have done that.

  6. Chef – I once worked at a McDonalds that was in a shopping center with a Dunkin Donuts and a KFC. All of the employees ate for free from everyone else.

  7. I thought the Taco Bell where I worked was the only one that traded food with other restaurants (Pizza Hut – they even delivered it). I appear to be deeply mistaken.

Glad to hear it happens elsewhere.
