  1. cute… he always look so dignified… if a chipmunk zipped past him he looks like he might just go “meh” and choose to roll in the grass a little.

  2. If his ears were laid back, I’d think he was gettin’ ready to fly. He does look like he might break into a run.

  3. It’s hard to tell if he really knows his name, but I think he is. He doesn’t come when you call him like most dogs (no matter what you call him). It really takes some coaxing to get him to come. He’s becoming a little less skittish, but not over that completely by any means and he’s still not coming through the door without a lot of encouragement and patience.

  4. I hope you find the time to post some more video of him. He is so adorable! Is he smart, easy to train? Does he greet you at the door if you leave for awhile then come back?

  5. Is his nose cold and wet? A Viet Nam vet is here with me now, he is also a veterinarian. He claims Gus will come around with time. He has a couple of theories on the door thing, if you wanna learn more contact me.

  6. My dog full well knows his name – Cairo. But he only instantly responds to “dinner!”.
He also sits like that, but he’s in the process of learning to hi-five, so he puts his paw up hoping for an extra treat…

  7. I’m not sure how smart he is yet. I think his skittishness keeps him form showing his true self. He’s just now starting to play with you… wag his tail and playfully chew on your hand… and that’s not all the time, just occasionally. He won’t play with toys much except he carries around this stuffed toy bone we got him. It has a rope on the end of it and he chews on that. He likes treats and rawhide chews. He NEVER acts excited when we get home. Like last night we went to out for pizza and to see Legends in Concert at a St. Louis casino and when we got home after being gone for 4 or 5 hours he was laying in the middle of our bed and acted very sleepy when I got to the bedroom to greet him. No excitement at all. He’s weird, but I love him anyway.
