  1. Not bad for his first game.

He also intentionally ran backwards to give Buffalo a safety at the end of the game to run out the timer.

  2. I bet this will set up a similar, but slightly different, play in the regular season. Why else throw this out in an exhibition game?

Probably true. But it also will slow down the rush, and potentially result in few punt blocks because the defenders are always thinking they have to watch out for the fake. They can’t just sprint and dive for a punt block. This gives the punter more time, and he can focus more on placement, distance, hang time, etc.

  4. This is their backup punter. Craig Heintrich, the starter, is more likely to throw a pass, but he has run some. Jeff Fisher (coach) throws these out every once in a while and they generally work and catch the defense completely flat-footed.
