Inside the scoreboard

My friend Bob in Kansas City was at the Royals game Saturday night.  Through some connections he has with friends he got access into the scoreboard control room and broadcast booth and took some pictures with his iPhone.  Here are a couple of them.

All these TV are used to show what is being shown on the scoreboard and what is coming up to show.  A director calls out what to switch to, just like you see in movies when they are doing a television show.  There is constant activity.

Thanks Bob

  1. Ok, their record aside, the remodeled Kauffman Staduim is BEAUTIFUL! It’s nice to be able to walk all around the stadium to see the game from many points of view. The food isn’t half bad. As you can see, the scoreboard (and screens around the whole stadium) are awesome!

Definitely somewhere to catch a baseball game and have a good time.

  2. eye uhzair 2,
Got my Frank White (fig)urine. The new K IS nice, but I hate when some ad takes over every screen in the park. Watching baseball, for me, is like watching pingpong. Head back-and-forth to the scoreboards.

  3. Do I detect a CARDINALS logo on the front of that RED shirt? And maybe the “s” in Pujols on the back? Go Cardinals.

BTW, I’m one who favors Frank White in the dugout, tho he’s a fine TV commentator now.

  4. It was Military Appreciation Day and we parked near a huge helicopter. When it departed mid-inning low beyond right field, I ’bout had my own (fig)urine
