Today is the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch from Cape Canaveral, FL. Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the moon. To commemorate the anniversary, NASA is recreating the mission. You can watch it at WeChooseTheMoon.org. This site will show the mission in real time, only 40 years later. You can follow transmissions between Apollo 11 and Mission Control.
You’ll also find animations recreating important events from the mission. For example, watch the Eagle separate from the command module.
Of course, there are also plenty of video clips and photographs. There’s even audio of the communications between the astronauts and NASA.
