Michael Jackson dies and it’s 24/7 news coverage. A real American hero dies and not a mention of it in the news.
You’re a 19-year-old kid. You’re critically wounded and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley , 11-14-1965, LZ X-ray, Vietnam . Your infantry unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.
You’re lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know you’re not getting out.. Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away and you’ll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.
Then, over the machine gun noise, you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter and you look up to see an unarmed Huey, but it doesn’t seem real because no Medi-Vac markings are on it.
Ed Freeman is coming for you. He’s not Medi-Vac, so it’s not his job, but he’s flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire, after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.
He’s coming anyway.
And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.
Then he flies you up and out, through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses.
And he kept coming back, 13 more times, and took about 30 of you and your buddies out, who would never have gotten out.
Medal of Honor Recipient Ed Freeman died on August 20, 2008, at the age of 80, in Boise , ID.
Thanks Tommy Salami
simply epic.
This man is truly the epitome of a hero.
God bless.
He actually died on August 20th 2008.

Oh, and here too:

…yeah…but could he DANCE???
I wish he could dance all over your head, moron.
My 81 year old father sent me this yesterday. What in the heck are people thinking? MJ is more important than a war hero? I guess it is time to take my meds.
Oh, my goodness! I read Gen. Hal Moore’s book “We were soldiers once, and young” so I know who this guy is. They REALLY ought to publicize not only him, but so many others from Ia Drang. Shameful, truly shameful.
I would not expect the media to report it,and they cant figure out why no one buys newspapers are watch any of the media sh*t
TV/newspapers etc. are commercial organizations. They are driven by the lowest common denominator to make their profits. Hence the proliferation of T & A and the overkill coverage of celebrities.
I agree, Infidel and Dave; What is America coming to??!!??
This next generation, and the ones to follow, will get their come-uppins with the fall of the free world!
Don’t get me started on liberals!
That man is a legend for those of us who keep up with real history, and real heroes.
Whatever the reason, it’s a good reminder of a great man. I’m humbled by his selflessness.
It seems the news media isn’t interested in real American heros
The Ed Freeman story is true and he truly is a great American hero.
The story that he died on or about the same time as Michael Jackson though and not even mentioned in the news is false. He actually died last August (almost a year before Michael).

Lets not forget those in the Middle East who recently gave their lives to freedom. Freedom that made MJ’s career possible.
American hero? That man is a hero regardless of country. Amazing amount of heroism. I do hate that the media spend more time over some entertainment person than people that risk there lives commiting acts of heroism when they didnt need to. They were not ordered to but they did it because it was the right thing to do. I feel for soliders in WW1 an WW2 because they were drafted, they didnt want to fight, they had know choice. Atleast there are people like as that know about, communicate and keep there heroism alive when they are gone.
This just shows why things are in the shape they are… we don’t have a clue as to what is really important and what is just flash… welcome to the decline of modern society people…
And thank you Mr. Freeman for your selfless act… the true hero’s will be known in the end…
My grandfather showed me a pic of the two of them and I had to ask who he was….makes me feel terrible.
Touching, but check your facts before you post spam you received.
Tony, What are you talking about? What spam? From what I understand this post is pretty accurate. It doesn’t say he died when Michael Jackson died. It’s just comparing the coverage of the two deaths.
It’s not like he got NO coverage or attention. He received the Medal of Honor from the President of the United States.
Of course he didn’t get the coverage Michael Jackson did. Most true heroes of his kind don’t want that coverage. They’re not media whores who crave the attention. They just did the job that they were required to do with the best of their abilities. Definitely a hero. But there’s no spam in this post that I can see. Enlighten me please.
This reminds me of a good friend I had some years ago that passed away. I knew him as a kind old man, but his history still strikes me in awe. Perhaps you will enjoy it too.

I stand corrected. The last line of the post said he died on June 25, 2009. That is wrong! It only took 3 people to finally get it through my head that it was wrong. I had neglected to read it all the way to the bottom.
Sorry for the error. I put the correct date there.
Thanks Wanda… and everybody else who tried to point out my errors.
