Baseball beer

Fs midwestWe went to the Cardinal game last night.  We got special tickets that were supposed to include food and drinks, but we didn’t get the special voucher (for the food) along with the tickets.

Our seats were in the broadcast booth for Fox Sports Midwest.  We had to wait until they wrapped up their pre-game show and moved the desk and camera before we could sit down and watch the game.

Game1

Since we didn’t get the voucher for free food and drink we had to buy beer and nachos.

Busch beer

Yep, that’s $8.50 for that little glass of draft beer.  I only had the one.

By the way, the Cardinals lost to the Cincinnati Reds 5–3.  They’re one game out of first place behind the Brewers.

  1. Jonco – So did you forget to get the voucher, or was it not included? $8.50 for a 20 oz. ballpark beer is pretty normal nowadays. Thats a good excuse to get loaded before you get to the stadium.

    • Someone gave us the tickets and said it included food and drink… said nothing about a voucher, but when we got there, they asked us for the voucher. Regardless, it was free tickets.

  2. Cleveland Indians has that deal too…Unlimited all-you-can-eat hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, nachos, soft drinks (beer not included) for $32 @ seat. It’s a dedicated section in the upper deck down the 1st base line, with its own concession stand. The regular seats in that area are around $15 +/-.

  3. Richard, I would suspect if Jonco is hopped up on some sort of pain meds, that one beer would add to those nicely. If he got sauced up before the game, he might not make it to the 7th inning stretch.

  4. Yeah, they charged the same for AAA Richmond Braves games. we learned real fast to take liquor in… It’s not the same as a cold beer at a ball game though…..

  5. Looks like you are in the Casino Queen section…..beer tastes great out of a plastic cup,$8.50 is still cheaper than a beer at the Four Seasons on the landing 🙂

  6. I was at Turner Field weekend before last watching the Braves unleash an *sswhoopin on Toronto.
A guy across the aisle was buying two at a time for himself and his buddy, from the roving concessioneer,
$7 a pop for a 16 oz beer. Three times he bought a pair, gave the guy a $20 and told him to keep the change.
By those standards your beer was a bargain.

  7. Oh well, a free ticket anyway. If I am going to pay that much for beer, I will go to the Casino Queen section and get a Shlafly. No corn or rice in it, no headaches. Of course, a few two out hits will help as well! That letter from the Mets fan at the end of the 2006 NCLS still makes me laugh.

    • Of course it really wasn’t free. Nachos $7.50, beer $8.50 parking $15. $31 and didn’t even get a hot dog. But I’m not really complaining. Where ewe were was right next to… or actually at the South-West end of the Casino Queen room.

  9. When I go to sporting events or vacation, I go knowing its gonna cost me. That’s why I don’t worry about how much I spend, rather just to enjoy my time there. If that means buying a hot dog, nachos, and beer while spending $80, hey at least I enjoyed myself rather than bitching about how much it cost me. Enjoy the moment…
