Conan starts in June? Guess the long run of The Tonight Show will probably come to an end this year.
I hurt myself laughing at this clip. I used to watch his show every weeknights until I went abroad for my studies, and managed to laugh myself silly on several occasions.
It still play fine on my system I’m using Firefox.
Thanks for the link, DJ…I couldn’t see it either.
I LOVED that segment. Probably my favorite, too. As for him doing the Tonight Show, he can’t be much worse than Leno’s first few years. Or his last few years…or the ones in the middle, for that matter.
Maybe he needs that shy girl as his sidekick.
I’m really gonna miss Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
I’ll be the first to watch in June.
Hmmmmm…. wouldn’t it be hard to be FIRST to watch it?
IMO for comedic value, Late Night With David Letterman was the best of any of the late shows including Carson’s. Letterman lost his edge at CBS and I think the only reason I still watch his show these days is because I’m hoping he might do something as funny as he did at NBC, but it rarely happens. The last 16 years haven’t been too good for any show. I never imagined Conan being on Late Night more than 6 months, and I always hoped Leno would have improved at some point.
OOOOOOOOhhhh, I can’t let that go! No one will EVER surpass Carson—EVER. It was a different era then, of course, with only three networks and if you got on Johnny Carson’s show, everyone in the country knew about you the next day!! A bit more exclusive to be on TV back then, but as far as the contemporaries go, Conan seems to be best! I agree that Letterman was WAY funnier in the 12:30 slot but now he’s just a far-left goofball that totally forgot where he came from. I think Conan will do great.
Carson was very good overall especially when talking with guests. I enjoyed watching him, and I’d rather watch reruns of any of his shows over what is put out today. But I think he’s been overhyped to a degree. He never felt that he was anything more than just a kid from Nebraska. With only three networks and three channels to pick from at home, whomever got on Carson was in the spotlight. 20-30 years on, with more choices available, if you got on Carson you must have been good, because it was still the spotlight that people were used to. Carson was easygoing and welcomed guests like they were longtime friends which led to some great chats during the interviews. And he stayed consistant through the years. Letterman copied the basic format of Carson’s show, but he didn’t try to make it a carbon copy. Letterman handled guests differently and sometimes harshly when we all knew the guest probably deserved it, and he took skits and antics to a level that Carson never did. That’s what I enjoyed and based my comment on. Conan and even Leno try to copy Letterman’s style and antics, but it doesn’t work. Letterman can’t even be what he was 20 years ago. This baseball skit was lame compared to what Letterman would have done with it 20 years ago or today if he would even try to do that stuff anymore. I can’t imagine Jimmy Fallon being an original that will break the mold or take it to a new level, but will undoubtedly offer a painful imitation of what has been done already. I hope I’m wrong about him, because these late night shows are turning into snoozers. The only thing I look forward to anymore is the first 10 minutes of The Daily Show just for the humor even if I don’t agree with the slant it takes.
That was great. laughed so hard I extinguished fluids from all holes!!
I personally think the whole Late Show formula needs a complete re-haul. get rid of the studio thing and get out to do interviews! change it up! I havnt watched a late show in years cause they are all so boring.
I can’t see! I’m blind! I’m blind!
Mike, maybe this is the new transparency…
Who said that??????
Actually this blank space fits in with my opinion of Conan. The only thing funny about him is his hair.
You can watch it here…
