B&P poll: How many Oscar nominated movies have you seen?

I like to think I go to the movies quite a bit.  But as usual, when it comes to the Oscars, I usually end up only seeing a couple of the Best Picture nominees before the Academy Awards broadcast.  As of now, I’ve only seen one of the current nominees…. that being Slumdog Millionaire.

The nominees for Best Picture this year are:

  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • The Reader
  • Slumdog Millionaire
  • Milk
  • Frost/Nixon

Of these five films nominated as Best Picture, how many have you seen?

  2. I saw only Benjamin Button. The whole time I was thinking, “why does this feel so much like Forrest Gump?” Then I found out it had the same screenwriter. “Oh.”

    I had never even HEARD of The Reader until it was nominated, and I keep up a lot on movies.

  3. I’ve only seen Benjamen Button as well and I thought the same thing while watching, Jimbo. Now either we don’t get out enough…or these movies just aren’t that great. There’s a difference between ‘entertaining’ and ‘masterpiece’ if you ask me.

  5. I think that Marlon Brando and George C. Scott had it right. What a collection of a$$ kissers and back stabbers. And talk about obscene amounts of money! CEO’s have nothing on these people.

  6. Speaking of Ben Button, if F. Scott Fitzgerald were still alive, he’d be sueing everybody associated with the movie.

  8. I have not seen any of them..
    I refused to pay $15.00 for a movie – I wait for the DVD and watch it on my Plasma TV in the comfort of my home.

  9. Saw Ben Button and Slumdog Millionaire, and the latter definitely deserves to win the Best Picture award. What a brilliant movie!
    Besides, I’d be very glad if Kate Winslet won the Best Actress award… I haven’t seen her in The Reader, but she achieved a great performance in Revolutionary Road…

  11. I’ve seen every film nominated in every major category and all films with actors and actresses nominated in them. I only paid to see one of them, The Reader.
