  1. uggh well Im one of the few that dont go to wal-mart I just never liked it,DAYUM I didnt know that about Hillary

  2. an evil, evil corporation. they prefer part time so that they don’t have to pay for health insurance or other benefits that full time workers at other companies receive. When Sam Walton was alive, he was proud of the fact that “Made in America” was what he was selling. Today? Not a chance. An evil, evil corporation.

  3. To each his own P in B

“they prefer part time so that they don’t have to pay for health insurance or other benefits that full time workers at other companies receive”
Does Wal-Mart use a gun to force people into employment, or how does that work?

  4. BTW…go down to your local electronics store, office supply store, etc…tell me what percentage of the products for sale were made in the USA

  5. Gary, yes Wal-Mart does hold a gun to employees in a round about way. They move into neighborhoods and effectively destroy all the smaller, local shops. People are then forced to work for Wal-Mart or no one. It’s not that hard to figure out. Wal-Mart would only have to raise prices by a penny or two on every item sold and they’d be able to afford to give ALL their employees full benefits while still having the lowest prices around. Wal-Mart could afford to do it, they just choose not to.

If you want proof that a discount retailer can thrive while paying decent wages and providing benefits, look up how Costco treats their employees and compare their stock value to other retailers that think they have to treat their employees like crap.

  6. “Wal-Mart would only have to raise prices by a penny or two on every item sold and they’d be able to afford to give ALL their employees full benefits while still having the lowest prices around.”

Nice assertion. Care to provide some proof?

  7. Sander, I count 5 Walmart stores within 20 minutes of my house. Furthermore, whether near WalMart or not, there is absolutely no shortage of smaller, local shops. In fact they abound. If you want a job, you are not limited to WalMart.
If raising prices by a penny or two on every item sold, is something they felt they could do, don’t you think they would have already done that in order to increase their profits? It’s not that hard to figure out.
Walmart operates on razor thin profits on a per item basis, they’re a company that makes money on volume and takes advantage of any way it can to do so. So, why would you expect a good wage in this kind of business?

  8. I worked there for a summer when i was a kid. Treated me nicer then any other place I ever worked at. everyone always complains about the lack of medical stuff but does anyone ever talk about those little mom and pop stores have full medical for their workers? Walmart gave me medical. i have yet to get it from any other employer. including the engineering firm i worked for and my current job as management.

  9. That sucks isiah because the company that I work for, I receive dental, medical, life insurance for me and my child, 6 wks. vacation days, all stat. holidays, extended health benefits, long term disability and a fantastic pension. Something to be said about unions here. And no, we would never have those benefits just because of the company that I work for, it’s because us members and the union fought for them. Amen.
